The Malaysian mentality would never change - despite the supposedly wider sense of awareness of the younger generation. In the world of the Internet and where access to online news and blogs is no longer a rarity, one would have thought that at least those familiar with the use of a bloody computer and the Internet would know the importance of those who are eligible to REGISTER as a voter for the coming election!
I found out that I was naive in thinking that well educated people would have better sense. But after speaking to a few of my colleagues, I can confirm that Malaysia still have a lot of work to do in educating its people on their duty and the importance of taking part in the country's general elections - actively.
A lot of us are guilty of taking for granted the right to cast a vote in a general election. Many of us failed to learn from the past and the suffering that previous generations had to endure before they managed to fight for the rights that we so easily put aside with vague excuses and tidak apa (don't care) attitude.
A lot of my colleagues are not even registered to vote. WTF??? And when I asked why, they gave me typical answers such as:
1) I'm not into politics - so how am I to vote?
2) I don't know who to vote for.
3) It doesn't matter, BN will always win.
4) It doesn't matter, things won't be different even if I voted.
5) I forgot to register.
6) I'll register for the next election. (HELLO???! Wait another 4 years for a chance to do your duty?)
I'm sorry, but excuses like these are pathetic. Not to mention disappointingly stupid in the view that everyone is complaining about this and that about the government, our economy, low income and rising cost of living. And yet, these people seem fit to sit back and wait till the election is past - and then start their moaning and whining again.

We Are Going Blu!
Well, maybe everyone else except LG. Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms has now turn their backs on Toshiba's HD DVD - one day after Toshiba decided to end the development of their product.
However, LG decided to continue to develop players compatible with both Blu-ray and HD DVD format, which would "therefore create simplicity and convenience for the existing HD DVD consumer".
So I bet now Sony's PS3 would receive a little bit more attention since the game console comes with a Blu-ray player. However, the pricing of the console depends a lot on it's competition with XBox rather than the price of manufacturing a Blu-ray disc player. And the last I read, Microsoft is already slashing the prices of its XBox360 in Canada to compete with the PS3 and the top-selling Nintendo Wii.
Personally, I have only tried the Wii so far cause it's more popular and therefore more people has it. I can understand why it's making a hit and I certainly had a lot of fun with it. But as for getting a console that has more choices of games, I would prefer to get a PS3 - of course, now it becomes more attractive considering the disc player that comes with it. Or maybe if I can save up some money, I could get both Wii and PS3.
But...that would leave the XBox360...hehe...OK...can't be greedy now ;p

Red Alert 3 - How Not To Intro A Game
I thought the trailer would be something cinematic. Something interesting - if it's not "awesome". Even if this was just an introduction or a clip to tell the world that you have Red Alert THREE in the coming...you have done much better than this...
Can the guy interviewing be more wooden and expressionless? Even the voice is monotonous. Watching this clip kind of spoiled my anticipation for this game already.
In fact, WorldShift looks better in comparison. Though, game trailers are like movie trailers these days - to be trusted only after you have personally tried/watched it. Here's a peek at WorldShift:

Trailer: Indy in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
The trailer looks good. But then again, these days we can't really trust trailers, can we? I thought Rambo4's trailer was great, but the reviews hadn't been the same (which reminds me that I still need to go watch it...).
For Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, having the same actor and same director - though both a lot older - I wonder if they managed to capture the magic that the last three episodes have so successfully created. Indiana Jones was like an icon to some, much like Luke Skywalker was to Star Wars lovers.
I grew up being a fan of this adventuring professor and I really hope they don't screw it up with this sequel. I've managed to download the high definition version from File Planet, but the size is more than 200MB, so I wasn't able to upload it onto Blogger. The best I can share is from YouTube - that is if you haven't already watched it. Or you can just simply head over to their official website and watch the high definition version - if you have a good connection (OK, the last bit was only meant for those connecting to the web using the line provided by TMNut. ).
Out on May 22. A must watch! :D

Happy Birthday and Happy Valentine's Day
Ah...first day of work in the Year of the Earth Rat. Hehe to say that I'm not in the mood is an understatement. And yet things need to be done...emails to follow-up...events to be planned...and plans to be ironed out...The more I procrastinate, the less time I have to do them.
I had a wonderful time off, although I wish I had more sleep. No...I wasn't out partying the night away. I just couldn't sleep till around 4 am the last few nights...don't know why. Perhaps there is too much on my mind? While getting enough sleep is essential for my plans to be recharged for work and all - I didn't let it get in the way of eating and getting red packets by visiting relatives and friends :P
Speaking of red packets or better known in Malaysia as "ang pow", I received more packets this year, but the amount is less. But in a way, receiving more packets seems to be more important than the quantity for me this year. It's probably because it meant I managed to visit more friends and having a good time along the way. Hehe...I don't open them till next year's New Year anyway - not unless I'm in desperate need of cash.
And what is the New Year without some gambling? Spent the whole of the "3rd Day" gambling in a friend's house in Sg. Long. I lost a few bucks in total, but in return for a lot of laughter and enjoyment, I guess it was worth it. Plus, we had a fantastic meal after the session - all prepared by my friend's parents :D
Now that we touched on meals, I think this year I had plenty of nice meals - from the Reunion Dinner, i.e. on New Year's Eve, to yesterday's lunch before heading back up to Penang. But it should be a given cause eating is one of the main activities during the Chinese New Year celebration. isn't it? ;p
My family only 'lou shang' once this year - which was during the Reunion Dinner, but from the amount of delicious food we had since then, I must say that I already feel a lot of "fook" (prosperity) - particularly those growing around my belly ;p
Today is the "7th Day", which is "Yan Yat" (people's day or something like that if translated) - it means it's everybody's birthday today! So Happy Birthday! :D Going to have "lou shang" again tonight with colleagues and then will be watching CJ7 at Queesbay Mall. Haha...thinner on my wallet, but these sort of "once a year" kind of things shouldn't be missed, right?
Oh...and Valentine's Day is tomorrow. How are you guys celebrating? If you have not gotten a gift for your loved one by now, it's not too late to do "something" nice for him or her - like maybe preparing a nice dinner, open a bottle of wine (ice cream, cakes, chocolates would do if you don't take alcohol) and spend some quality time together? For me, I might be at home doing another "lou shang" with my brother and his family...haha am I overdoing it? ;p
Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day and hope everyone has a great time with their loved ones - even though you might not feel that you should get a gift for the sake of buying one - due to overpricing and commercialization of V Day. Not for Vendetta, mind you.
